  1. Foreign Town

Lomax Alliance did the month of December 66 through New Year 67 playing the Star Club in Hamburg and it was fantastic!  Upon our return to London, we settled back at Leinster Towers for a while, then moved to a place in North Hendon where we could rehearse and write.  Though we didn’t record them then, these songs come from that time.
Foreign Town is about the experience of being in Germany and making so many great friends.
Morning Song is about getting up late and not responding to morning things on the days when we didn’t have to go to the recording studio.
The best thing for me is that again, the original bass player Thom Caccetta was able to put his part into both songs.

Lyrics

FOREIGN TOWN
Words and Music by John Cannon

If you listen to me I will tell you a story about a foreign town
Kindness and laughter and happy people were the things I found
Everyone struck by love
Can you see it clear

We sang in the moonlight and played until dawn was breaking through the sky
As I looked at her and she looked at me our hearts began to fly
Both of us struck by love
Can you see it clear

All I could see were faces
Smiling at me as I walked by
I didn‘t know that I would
Feel so down when I said goodbye

So many things to say of this town and I have but one song
And it’s better said in just a few words though I could be wrong
Everyone struck by love
Can you see it clear

All I could see were faces
Smiling at me as I walked by
I didn‘t know that I would
Feel so proud when I said goodbye
