  1. Morning Song

Lomax Alliance did the month of December 66 through New Year 67 playing the Star Club in Hamburg and it was fantastic!  Upon our return to London, we settled back at Leinster Towers for a while, then moved to a place in North Hendon where we could rehearse and write.  Though we didn’t record this then, the song comes from that time.
Foreign Town is about the experience of being in Germany and making so many great friends.
Morning Song is about getting up late in North Hendon and not responding to milkman on the days when we didn’t have to go to the recording studio.
The best thing for me is that again, the original bass player Thom Caccetta was able to put his part on this song.

Lyrics

MORNING SONG
Words and Music by John Cannon

Birds are singin’ when the morning comes,
But I’ll keep dreamin’ till the noonday sun
Shines through my window

Milkman ringing for his weekly pay,
But no one hears him on a sleepy day
Come back tomorrow

It’s so fine on a day for dreaming,
how it’s going to be
When you are mine until the end of time

Friends are laughing, telling things they do
Sit with me and I’ll speak love to you
And don’t think I’m foolin’

Life is changing inside your mind
Love is coming all you need is time
It gets confusing

It’s so fine on a day for dreaming,
how it’s going to be
When you are mine until the end of time
